Old ascalon. It's ugly but any place like that would be a playground for me and my Jeep without the treehugging dweebs cramping my style.

proph is my favorite campaign, jungle is my favorite place
hmm, then i guess Tangle Root is my favorite exploreable area
reason? well, there's a few different parts, like trolls + moss scarabs and another part has wind riders, bad enemies, but good old times
The Falls is also a nice exploreable area, mostly cuz you had those annoying centaurs and their traps, so its a relief you got away from them, lol
so this area ins my number 2, i think
and both areas are in the subject "nostalgia" and the jungle isnt very crowdy
*good old times* ahum...

Prophecies - Anvil Rock; first place I ever farmed by myself
Factions - Jaya Bluffs; great view of the beach faaaaar below, and feather farming is FUN!
Nightfall - The Alkali Plain, especially the Monolith temple. Major lightbringer points anyone?
EOTN - Ice Cliff Chasms, just because it's about the only place in EOTN where you can just lean back and marvel at the beautiful sky and reflections off the ice...instead of constantly fighting for your life.

Prophecies - The pre-searing catacombs. Then the rest of pre-searing. The post searing areas aren't as distinct and well developed as those in the later games. Lots of snow, but EotN has so many great snow regions with so many more features to them. The crystal desert areas aren't as distinct as the desolation either. I feel that the later games just outdo these areas.
Factions - Pongmei Valley. This probably has something to do with the fact that it comes after a gigantic city maze that's a horrible chore to find your way through. Then suddenly theres a huge expanse of green plains with lots of easy creatures to kill. It's so welcoming.
Nightfall - Mehtani Keys. They were getting better at filling regions with details in NF so this was a much harder choice. Vabbi and Kourna are so beautiful, but something about the keys makes it the prettiest spot. I had to save it for last in my vanquish.
EotN - Pretty much all amazing. Each region is so distinct it's very hard to decide. Maybe Dalada? I really don't know.
Elite Areas - The Chaos Planes. Someone earlier mentioned this as well and I was wondering if it had to do with the huge number of Ectos that drop here, but it's not just that. There's something so incredibly calm about the place. It's also the one part of the underworld that feels like it really could be part of an afterlife.

Pick an explorable area on Shing Jea island, and that'll be my favorite.
The Shing Jea areas represent Guild Wars at its best, in my most esteemed opinion.

Sunqua Vale is without a doubt my favourite zone in Guild Wars. The juxtaposition of the ominous clouds and the beautiful landscape was the first thing I remember of Guild Wars, as I never played until Factions' release.
I have to also agree with the poster above me. Shing Jea, in my opinion, represents the essence of Guild Wars. What that essence is differs for everyone I'm sure, but for me it's the perfect region. The green grass that often fades in the snowy bluffs always catches my eyes, and the slight breeze that you can quite often catch on the trees is also one of my favourite parts of Shing Jea island.

I loved exploring just about any area in Prophecies. There's always something unexpected and interesting.
Oddly, I love the crystal desert, especially The Arid Sea. There's just something so haunting, mysterious and beautiful about that area with its ruins, that colossal statue and the stories of bleached bones.
I also love areas of the Shiverpeaks with the snow falling and the white mountains. That time I stumbled upon the statue of Grenth in Lornar's Pass was cool. I was awestruck.
The other day I was out mapping an area of Gates of Kryta mission, and the water there is gorgeous.

No, I don't like it just for the Ecto drops. I just love the glowing blue stuff, chasms, and as you mentioned, how calm it is. It's so simple, which is part of what makes it so cool.

Just about all of the explorables in the Tarnished Coast are my favorites. I love how Riven Earth and Sparkfly Swamp all feel like real jungle areas, much more so than the lush parts of Kryta or even the Maguuma Jungle.
Plus, there's dinosaurs there.

Pretty much all of them? One of the reasons I really like Guild Wars is that the environment is pretty fantastically gorgeous.
One feature I wish would be implemented is a "Tourist" mode. Removes all enemies from the map, or makes them neutral to you, or something. Allows you to just wander, take screenshots, et cetera without always getting attacked.
